Market Report 10/2024
Due to weather conditions, the 2024 harvest began approximately 7 days later. The hop harvest ended last week. Certification deadline for the 2024 hop harvest is November 15. After this date, the final weighing figures will be available. We expect that the optimistic estimate will not be fully reached.

Despite sufficient rainfall during the crucial growth period of June and July, alpha values are better than the poor 2023 harvest but remain below the 5-year average for alpha, with few exceptions.
Below are the average alpha values for the 2024 harvest compared to the 5-year average alpha values for the main varieties:
- Hallertauer Tradition: 5.3 % / 5.6 %
- Perle: 6.2 % / 6.7 %
- Hallertauer Magnum: 12.9 % / 13.4 %
No E24 values for Herkules are available yet. I estimate the average alpha value E24 to be around 15.7 %. 5-year average alpha is 16.1 %.
The complete list of alpha acid values will be published in BRAUWELT in mid-November.
Initial spot market prices have emerged, though few transactions are taking place.
Poland and the Czech Republic report a good harvest.
