The high-alpha variety "Hallertauer Taurus" was bred in Hüll after the "Hallertau Magnum" and has higher alpha values. The areas under which Taurus is grown are now declining, as the later-bred variety "Herkules" was better in terms of cultivation and yield than Taurus. It gives the beer a harmonious, not quite as strong bitterness with hoppy aroma impressions.
