The hop harvest is drawing to a close. Although certification does not end until November 15, 2025, the figures below are unlikely to change significantly!
Region Crop 2024 Estimate 2025 Weighing 27.10.2025 Difference from estimate Hallertau 40.302 T 35.500 T 37.136,2 T + 4,6 % Tettnang 2.908 T 2.598 T 2.719,8 T + 4,7 % Elbe Saale* 2.569 T 2.498 T 2.193,0 T - 12,3 % Spalt 717 T 598 T 613,8 T + 2,6 % Bitburg** 40 T 42 T 42,0 T + 5,0 % Deutschland gesamt 46.536 T 41.235 T 42.704,8 T + 3,6 %
*Late high-alpha varieties are mainly grown in the Elbe Saale growing region. Here, the weighting factor will increase to between 2,250 and 2,300 T.
**No weighing results are available yet from the Bitburg growing region.Due to the reduction in cultivation area by 1,326 hectares for the 2024 harvest, 3,832 tons less raw hops were harvested.
As already predicted in my last market report dated August 22, 2025, the alpha values for the 2025 harvest of the main varieties Hallertauer Tradition, Perle, Hallertau Magnum, and Herkules are higher than those for the 2024 harvest and also above the 10-year average—except for Herkules.
Variety Alphas 2024 Alphas 2025 10J-Ø-Alphas Hallertauer Tradition 5,3 % 5,7 % 5,6 % Perle 6,2 % 7,0 % 6,8 % Hallertau Magnum 12,9 % 13,8 % 13,2 % Herkules 15,8 % 15,9 % 16,0 %
The reduced harvest volume of around 42,800 tons is offset by the improved alpha values, meaning that the 2025 harvest is likely to be on par with the 2024 harvest in terms of alpha acid.
